Košarkašice Srbije poražene su od Španije 62:70 rezultatom u meču trećeg kola grupe A i tako su zauzele drugo mesto u grupi, iza današnjih rivalki.
Srpkinje su i pre današnjeg meča imale obezbeđen plasman u četvrtfinale, ali su neočekivano slabom partijom dozvolile Špankinjama da ih savladaju i obezbede sebi lakši put do medalje.

Španija je završila kao pobednik grupe A sa tri pobede, Srbija je druga sa skorom 2-1, a Kina treća skorom 1-2, pošto je ranije danas deklasirala poslednjeplasirani i bez pobede Portoriko rezultatom 80:58.
Srbija, zahvaljujući odličnom poen količniku (plus 17), ima velike šanse da bude najbolja drugoplasirana selekcija i tako izbegne pobednike grupa B i C.
